After five years of Steam early access, Maia launches proper tonight

Colony settled.

Maia launches proper on Steam tonight after five years spent in early access.

The colony-building game leaves early access at 6pm UK time, 23rd November 2018. It launched on Steam as an early access title on 3rd December 2013, having raised £140,480 on Kickstarter.

Here's the official blurb:

"Maia is a colony building game set in the not-so-distant future. Your colonists make planetfall on a hostile world and you must ensure their survival and their safety, constructing their off-world habitat from almost nothing and sheltering them from a dangerous, often deadly environment."

Oxford-based developer Simon Roth told Eurogamer the current build includes a full narrative campaign with voiceover.

"It's been over five years of intense, intricate development delivering on my Molyneux-esque promises, with plenty of ups and downs," Roth said. "The game now is a harsh, dark, and humorous hard sci-fi woven over a core of an accurately simulated detail."

Roth added small patches and free content are planned, alongside meatier expansions.
