Kingdom Hearts 3 secret ending requirements explained
The steps to take to unlock the secret ending in Kingdom Hearts 3.
The Kingdom Hearts 3 secret ending is yet another thing to unlock in the Square Enix and Disney mashup.
Just when you thought everything was wrapped up simply and cleanly at the game's conclusion, it throws in something on top to set internet discussion boards aflame with speculation and hype.
We're going to avoid any overt spoilers in the text here, so if you want to get involved in all the chatter you'll need to fulfil a couple of requirements to unlock the secret ending for yourself. As a heads up, prepare to sink some time into one of the game's major side activities!

How to unlock the Kingdom Hearts 3 secret ending
The first step is a pretty obvious one - you need to finish Kingdom Hearts 3. That means progress past the save point in Scala ad Caelum, defeat the final boss and watch the main ending to the game.
With this easy part out of the way, you'll then want to move on to the more significant task you need to complete to access the secret ending. Namely, you need to find a certain number of Lucky Emblems that are hidden around various locations throughout the game.
What's important to know before you go running off searching for them, though, is that there is a different target to reach based on the difficulty mode you chose to play on at the start of the game - whether that's Beginner, Standard or Proud mode.
- For those of you playing on Beginner, you'll have to collect all 90 Lucky Emblems in order to unlock the secret ending.
- If you're on Standard, then you'll need to find a much more manageable 60 Lucky Emblems.
- Finally, Proud mode players will just need to uncover 30 Lucky Emblems to meet the unlock condition.
As soon as you hit the necessary target you should save your game and return to the main menu. Once there, a popup will alert you that there's a new video available to watch in the Theatre.
Visit that submenu and scroll all the way down to the bottom to find a new clip in the 'Secret Movie' section entitled 'Yozora'. Hit play and prepare yourself for what follows.
As one final point, it's worth noting that you can, of course, find the required Lucky Emblems before completing the game and unlock the secret ending that way. Ultimately, it comes down to whichever order you would prefer to do it in!
What is the Kingdom Hearts 3 secret ending?
The Kingdom Hearts 3 secret ending is a bonus video that was added to the Theatre section on the game's main menu in Patch 1.03 shortly after the game's launch on January 22nd.
In true Kingdom Hearts fashion, it's hard to give a definitive answer on what exactly the secret ending means. What we do know is that, in the past, these secret endings have given us a few hints as to the direction of future games in the series. It would seem safe to assume that the same remains true here.
We're not going to detail all our wild theories about the secret ending here as there are absolutely better places - and much better minds - discussing it elsewhere! Going into it, though, you might want to consider which characters we're seeing, where they are, and the fact that Yozora means 'night sky' in Japanese.
If you can't contain yourself and the thought of hunting down the required number of Lucky Emblems to unlock the secret ending seems painfully tedious then we've got the video for you to watch below. Have a look and see what you think it all means!
Looking for more to unlock? There's completing each Kingdom Hearts 3 Battlegate, and considering all the Lucky Emblems you may have just collected, now would be a good time to make a start on synthesising Ultima Weapon.
