Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove update, amiibo delayed by "several months"
A hole shame.
Shovel Knight's final Treasure Trove update and its accompanying amiibo will now launch "several months" after its previous 9th April release date.
The game was also due to launch complete with the update in new physical editions - these have also been delayed.
In a blog post on the holdup, developer Yacht Club Games reassured fans it was "not a major delay" but would also not set a new date until everything was lined up and ready to go.
This final update will add story-focused expansion King of Cards and the multiplayer-focused Showdown mode to the game.
With these added, Shovel Knight's Treasure Trove will at last be complete - hence the arrival of physical PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch editions. These have been pushed back to be launched with everything on disc/cart, rather than requiring further updates down the line.
Pushing all of this back is a tricky business, Yacht Club concluded, and is complicated by the extensive list of platforms each Shovel Knight update will launch on - everything from 3DS and Wii U, PS3 and Vita, to current consoles, PC, Mac and Linux. That's a lot to dig-est!
