ORIGINAL STORY 7/3/18: Just over a week after Warframe received its inaugural Nightwave season, the seemingly unstoppable force that is developer Digital Extremes has unleashed Warframe's first community event of 2019, Operation: Buried Debts.
Operation: Buried Debts is out now on PC, and sets players, working together as a community, the task of investigating the strange fractures appearing across Venus' surface - a consequence, says Digital Extremes, of "Nef Anyo's unrelenting greed". Buried Debts is a multi-part Operation that's set to unfold over the course of the next few weeks.
Participants will be able earn unique items during the event, including an Emblem and Sigil, Amalgam Mods, and the Opticor Vandal. However, players are required to "take down a tremendous foe" in order to claim their final reward.
Additionally, a new Warframe, Hildryn, debuts as part of the Operation: Buried Debts update. Hildryn, whose outfit sits somewhere between 80s summer chic and 90s Global Hypercolor, has four unique abilities with one common theme: they all draw energy from her shields. You can find out more about Hildyrn's Balefire, Shield Pillage, Haven, and Aegis Storm abilities in Digital Extremes' handy introductory video below.
Elsewhere, today's update sees the introduction of Ephemera, a new type of cosmetic item which adds special effects to your Warframe - with pre-release examples including a smoke-emitting torso and crackling electrical footprints. These can be earned and crafted through the likes of Arbitrations, the Stalker, and Elite Sanctuary Onslaughts.
You'll find a full rundown of today's additions, including changes to melee combat, new weapons and customisations, system enhancements, and quality of life updates, in Digital Extremes' Operation: Buried Debts blog post. The developer notes that the update will be making its way to consoles "soon".
