Shenmue 3 delayed to November
For "a little more refinement".
Shenmue 3's release date has been shunted back again. Previously due for launch this August, the long-awaited threequel will now arrive on 19th November.
In a blog post issued to fans today, publisher Deep Silver and creator Yu Suzuki said the game was "almost ready".
Here's the brief message in full:
"Hello everyone, today, Yu Suzuki & Deep Silver would like to give a message concerning the release date. Shenmue 3 will now release on 19th November 2019.
"Whilst almost ready, the game simply needs a little more refinement before being truly finished. We feel that the extra time we have will help us deliver the true Shenmue experience players around the world deserve! We thank you for your patience and understanding."
The delay means it will be almost exactly 20 years since the original Shenmue released on Dreamcast in December 1999, and 18 years after Shenmue 2, which came out in September 2001.
Shenmue 3 was first announced back at E3 2015, during a memorable PlayStation press conference - which itself feels a long time ago.
