Mortal Kombat 11 Nightwolf gameplay reveals magic arrows, tomahawk lightning and animal friends
Bear with.
NetherRealm has revealed gameplay of Nightwolf, the next DLC character for Mortal Kombat 11.
Nightwolf, who made his debut in the famous fighting game series with 1995's Mortal Kombat 3, appears in Mortal Kombat 11 complete with some of his trademark moves, including his magic bow and arrows, his tomahawk lightning attack and his shoulder charge.
He appears to be able to deflect projectiles by calling on the power of the bear, buff himself by calling on the power of the wolf and launch an eagle as a projectile.
Also of note: Nightwolf can reflect projectiles back at his opponent by sticking out his chest at the right time, then teleport behind his foe. Nice.
His Fatal Blow sees him call on the power of the bear and the wolf before firing three green arrows into his opponent. He then slams his tomahawk into their neck and uses it to channel lighting into their head. The Fatality is as gory as you'd expect. It's a real hatchet job.
Oh, and I love Nightwolf's outro, which sees the character howl as the camera shoots up to reveal a wolf howling under the moon. Super cool!
Here's the official blurb on Nightwolf's background:
"Nightwolf, born as Grey Cloud, is a proud and fierce warrior dedicated to the cause of good and chosen by the Great Spirit to become the Matoka tribe's champion and protector. Along with his signature tomahawk swing, Nightwolf possesses extraordinary magic that allows him to manifest weapons created from spirit energy to fight for the Matoka's future and defend all of Earthrealm."
Early access to Nightwolf begins 13th August for Kombat Pack owners, before the character is available to buy for all a week later. The Kombat Pack has already seen the release of Shang Tsung, and also includes Sindel and Spawn. Two guest characters, rumoured to be The Terminator and Ash Williams, will be announced soon.
Kombat Pack owners also get the Klassic Arcade Fighter Skin Pack featuring Jax, Kung Lao and Kano, as well as the new War Games Sonya Blade Skin.
