Valve apologises for Street Fighter 5 DLC Steam leak
"We are fans of Street Fighter ourselves and we're sorry for the error."
Valve has issued a public apology for leaking Street Fighter 5's next round of DLC characters.
The upcoming new DLC characters, E. Honda, Poison and Lucia were all leaked on Wednesday when Steam published the trailer for the DLC reveal early. Capcom had planned to make a big splash during this weekend's Evo fighting game tournament.
Now, Valve has apologised in a post on Steam, saying there was "a mix-up in the publishing process".
"Dear Street Fighter 5 Fans," begins the note.
"On Wednesday of this week there was a mix-up in the publishing process at Valve that caused a trailer to go live on Steam ahead of schedule. The trailer includes the major reveal of Poison, Lucia, and E. Honda as characters joining the fighter roster.
"It's a regrettable and unintentional situation, and we have already implemented measures to prevent this error from happening again. We are fans of Street Fighter ourselves and we're sorry for the error."
Capcom staff have expressed their disappointment at the leak this week, with a number taking to Twitter to vent. Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono has sounded particularly saddened by what's happened.
With the DLC reveal now public, we know all three new DLC characters will be released Sunday 4th August.
