Red Dead Online's getting boozy with a Moonshiner role
There's a snake in ma bootleg.
At the end of a long day of trading, all I ever want to do is return to camp, put my feet up and have a strong drink. If you want boozing to be your day job, however, you'll soon be able to do that too - as Red Dead Online is introducing a new specialist role called the Moonshiner.
Starting December 13th, those who take up the Moonshiner role will be able to establish their own bootlegging business. Gameplay will revolve around "perfecting distillation methods, avoiding the law, and putting rival peddlers out of business", with successful Moonshiners able to open a speakeasy. Along with operating the business, the Moonshiner role comes with new story missions surrounding infamous bootlegger Maggie Fike.
There are currently three other specialist roles in Red Dead Online - Trader, Bounty Hunter and Collector - which provide additional gameplay missions and unlockable items. The catch is they require a pretty penny to unlock, and to purchase a role outright, you have to buy a pack of 25 gold bars (£8.99) to get the 15 required. You can earn gold nuggets through gameplay to make up gold bars in Red Dead Online, but you'll probably end up looking like Maggie before you've reached that point.
To get the Moonshiner role, you'll first need to reach rank five as a Trader before purchasing the required Moonshining Shack. As the cost of purchasing the shack has not yet been detailed, we'll have to wait to see what the damage is - and whether it'll cost premium gold bars or more easily-earned cash. Could end up being a pricey drink.
On top of the Moonshiner role, on 13th December you can also expect to see the new Navy Revolver, more clothing options and the Outlaw Pass No.2. So, that's the news in its distilled form: check out the Rockstar blog for more details.
