The Sims 4 is going green in new Eco Lifestyle expansion
Out next month on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
The Sims 4 is going bigger and greener on 5th June when its environmentally focussed Eco Lifestyle Expansion Pack arrives on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Eco Lifestyle is The Sims 4's ninth expansion pack (a number that doesn't include the teetering stack of Stuff and Game Packs released since the game's PC launch in 2014), and the bulk of its additions are focussed around the new city of map of Evergreen Harbour.
Here, players can rouse their in-game community into a frenzy of environmentally friendly action in order to evolve Evergreen Harbour from a pollution-addled health hazard to a shimmering oasis of sustainable living, replete with blue skies, clear waters, and bountiful wildlife.
To help facilitate that goal, Eco Lifestyle introduces a range of new mechanics, including the ability for Sims to create their own energy and water - using solar panels, wind turbines, and dew collectors - or grow their own food. There are new vertical gardens and living rooftops, and it's also possible to "upcycle" materials and create new furniture and clothing, even go dumpster-diving to find more resources if required.
Additionally, there's a new Community Voting Board, used to instigate various weekly Neighbourhood Action Plans. You might, for instance, encourage friends and neighbours to install eco-friendly objects, establish a Community Space for communal crafting and planting, even change the look of an area. And those that want to fully immerse themselves in greener living can take up one of two new occupations: Civil Designer and Freelance Crafter, the latter being tasked with fulfilling order for the likes of candles, fizzy juices, and upcycled items.
The Sims 4's Eco Lifestyle Expansion Pack will launch simultaneously on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 come 5th June, and it'll cost £34.99/$39.99 USD.
