Someone's made Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge from The Simpsons

Missed by a wide Marge-in.

All the games revealed during last week's Not-E3 events were exciting, sure, but the real news today is that someone has made a working version of Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge: the joke video game from The Simpsons.

If you cast your mind back to the season seven episode Marge Be Not Proud, you may recall the episode features a deliberately terrible golf game that Bart receives as a present for Christmas. According to Simpsons lore, the game did not sell well (and Bart ended up with a copy from Marge because the more popular Bonestorm had sold out). So it's just as well the real-life version of the game, made by Aaron Demeter, is totally free. It's even been endorsed by Bill Oakley, who was a showrunner for that particular season of The Simpsons.

To try the sheer breadth of options in this game for yourself, you can head on over to the Itch.io page, where you can either play in-browser or download the game to get yourself a "scoring pencil" (and leave Demeter a tip for his efforts).

Seemingly taken aback by the popularity of this famously terrible game, Demeter said the response to his game had been "completely unexpected and a bit overwhelming to say the least". Personally, I think he's knocked the ball out of the parking lot with this one.
