Infinity Ward finally adds mode-specific uninstall options for 225GB Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PC
Days before the Black Ops Cold War beta hits PC.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PC finally gets mode-specific uninstall options on PC - just days before the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta launches on the platform.
An update due out today will make the change, according to a tweet from Infinity Ward production director Paul Haile.
Currently, only the console versions of Modern Warfare allows you to uninstall certain modes, such as the campaign, multiplayer, spec ops and survival. This is essential, really, given Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone together have ballooned to over 200GB. Here's how it looks on PS4:
Today the PC version, which takes up 225GB, will also get these much-needed options, although we don't know the specifics just yet.
It's good timing, too, with the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta hitting the PC this Thursday. I suspect there will be plenty of PC Call of Duty fans who will fancy giving it a shot, but won't want to uninstall Modern Warfare and / or Warzone if they have to make room for it.
Yesterday, Infinity Ward made a 9GB Modern Warfare and Warzone update available to pre-download on PS4. It's set to go live at 7am UK time tomorrow, 14th October. The developer has yet to say what it's for.
Here's an interesting tidbit: Haile explained why only digital owners of Modern Warfare on PS4 can uninstall the campaign. "Unfortunately for disc owners the PS4 system currently requires that all data from the disc is installed, which includes the campaign," Haile said on Twitter. "We would enable this for disc owners too, if we could."
