Investigating the downed black helicopter, alongside repairing the damaged telescopes, is one of the challenges foreshadowing upcoming storyline events in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6.
To complete this challenge, you need to visit the downed black helicopter's location and tune its radio by investigating the destroyed vehicle.
Completing this Fortnite challenge will reward you with 24k XP, which will help you climb the Season 6 Battle Pass.

Here is the location of the downed black helicopter on the Fortnite map:
The downed helicopter can be found in the woods to the west of the Guardian Spire located on an island in the southern lake, which is, itself, directly north of Misty Meadows.
You'll easily spot the downed helicopter as you glide down from the Battle Bus thanks to the tracks it's crash has created in the dirt.
We recommend landing at a distance from the downed helicopter, as it will allow you to see whether any other players are planning on visiting it at the beginning of a match.
Simply finding this helicopter, however, won't complete this challenge.

How to investigate and tune the downed black helicopter in Fortnite
Once you've found the downed black helicopter in Fortnite, you'll need to investigate and tune its radio.
You do this by interacting with the helicopter, which will cause options, similar to those you receive from NPCs, to appear on screen.
These options will be a plus and a minus sign and you need to push them until the message on the helicopter's radio becomes readable. You can mark your progress by how much of the message is visible on the screen - if a word disappears once you've pressed an option, then you need to press the opposite one.
According to our research, the order in which you need to press these options appears to be random. We completed this challenge by selecting the plus sign three times and the minus once, but some players have only had to press plus and then minus.
Either way, it won't take you very long to tune the radio and then you can enjoy a small piece of foreshadowing for upcoming storyline events!
