As the smoke from Fortnite's comet clears, season four adds new location
UPDATE: New map revealed, patch notes live.
UPDATE 11.30am: Fortnite season four's big list of patch notes is now live. It's enormous, so allow us to summarise the biggest changes for you.
First off, let's take a look at the game's updated map. Tilted Towers - after all that - survived the comet impact, as the season four map shows. The impact site was instead Dusty Divot:
In smaller changes, You can use any spray or emote you own in a match - there's no longer a six slot limit. You can also now destroy structures on the starting island (but not the battle bus).
Over in the game's Save the World mode, there's a new blockboster event where you investigate the comet and recruit superheroes. There's a new mythic soldier subclass, Nevermore, and eight Shadow Ops heroes, too.
Loot Llama prices are now cheaper, and any previous purchases will be rewarded with free Troll Stash Llamas to make up the difference.
Finally, enemies will now drop building materials, schematics, ingredients and ammo when defeated. Mini-bosses will drop better schematics with the likelihood of Legendary loot scaling with the difficulty of the mission.
Fortnite season four arrives today in the aftermath of the game's big comet crash - and there's a new location to explore.
Visit the comet's big crater and you'll find Hop Rocks, an all-new area littered with glowing rocks. Gobble one up and you'll be gifted with an alien low-gravity ability, allowing you to float around like a superhero.
Fortnite is only just back from maintenance, so we're still waiting to hear if Hop Rocks has blasted the seemingly-doomed Tilted Towers location off the map.
In the meantime, here's a leaked trailer introducing season four in all its apocalyptic glory:
Developer Epic has yet to formally announce the changes, but word of them is already visible via the game's official iTunes Store listing.
If you've been living under a molten rock for the past month, then all of the above should sound familiar - comets, aliens, superpowers were all teased in the run up to today.
