Ubisoft has announced Assassin's Creed II: Discovery for iPhone, due for release on 11th November in the States.

The new game's a 2D platformer derived from the console versions (due 20th November), in which you guide Ezio around bits of Italy running, jumping and stabbing people.

The presentation from Apple's media event yesterday is on YouTube (thanks Touch Arcade), and looks nice and free-flowing.

There's a left-and-right movement slider on-screen, and buttons for weapons and other items. Some of the free-running looks to be automated with movement, and Ezio seems easy to manoeuvre into swan dives, wall-jumps, stealth attacks and counter kills, much as we expect him to be on consoles.

We've previously heard of Assassin's Creed II: Discovery as a DS title rated by the ESRB, so expect big similarities when the handheld version hits for Nintendo's format on 20th November.

Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines is a separate entity due out for PSP.
