Assassin's Creed movie mostly set in modern times
Only 35 per cent in 15th century Spain.
Roughly two-thirds of the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie will be set in modern times.
According to executive producer Pat Crowley in an interview with IGN, 65 per cent of the film will be set in the present day and only 35 per cent will take place in the simulation of 15th century Spain.
That's a big shift from the games, which set only a few per cent of their running times, if that, in the contemporary era.
"There are certain things that we absolutely want to respect in the game," Assassin's Creed star Michael Fassbender told IGN. "[But] this isn't a video game that we're making. We're trying to make a cinematic experience, so there are new things that we have to introduce."
That's easy to say for Fassbinder, who plays both modern day man Callum Lynch and his 15th century Spanish ancestor, Aguilar. On the plus side, co-star Marion Cotillard's Dr. Sophia Rikkin seems set to only be in the modern segments and more Marion Cotillard is never a bad thing.
The Assassin's Creed film will be released on 21st December.
