BioWare's CGI introduction to SWTOR companion HK-51
No expense spared for a KOTOR-inspired favourite.
Probably the best recruit in Knights of the Old Republic was HK-47, an assassin droid with a murderous sense of humour.
He said things like, "Statement: I have already learned a great deal, master, and I am anxious to learn more of lying, betrayal, and new ways to harm innocents."
He wasn't very polite: "Offensive question: What is it that you wish, fat one?"
But he could be philosophical: "If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you."
HK-47 also had a rock solid tie to the storyline of Knights of the Old Republic.
Only fitting, then, that BioWare should bring a similar companion to MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Cue HK-51, and an expensive-looking CGI introduction trailer.
"All these years," a voice, which sounded like Brian Cox's, narrated, "lost, the most dangerous machines in the galaxy. Scores of them.
"Whoever finds them will be unstoppable."
Lights flicker on and a droid assembly line is illuminated. One of the robots is picked up and switched on.
"Declaration: assassination protocols active," the droid said.
"Greetings, master."
HK-51 will arrive in SWTOR in "the very near future", BioWare has said.
Here's a bit of blurb: "Buried deep beneath the icy surface of Belsavis rests an army of the deadliest, most feared machines in the known galaxy. Thought to have been lost when an Imperial freighter was destroyed, they have recently been rediscovered by a group of renegade Sith Lords. Now both the Sith Empire and Galactic Republic seek to control these dangerous weapons for themselves. Those who are brave enough to venture into the wreckage will emerge with a powerful new ally."
