Bleszinski signals more Gears of War
"Dumb not to do another" if sales are high.
The chances of Gears of War continuing past trilogy-ending instalment number three are high, Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski has revealed.
In fact, he told Ripten "it would be completely dumb not to do another one", should Gears of War 3 sell as Epic hopes it will.
"Well there's always the Peter Jackson route, right? Do The Hobbit or something like that," said Bleszinski.
"I mean, we're business people. Gears 1 and 2 sold about six million copies, so if this game comes out and, God willing, sells eight or ten million, it would be completely dumb to not do another one. It's just business 101.
"The key is figuring out what's appropriate - what makes sense for this connected world that we're moving into? That remains to be seen. That's the million dollar question."
It's likely Microsoft will also be keen to see Gears of War continue, as Epic's chunky shooter series has been a pin-up for Xbox 360 since the very start of this generation.
Gears of War 3 brings four-player campaign co-op and ambitious multiplayer plans to the series, including the enticing fight-as-the-baddies Horde mode. Digital Foundry's Gears of War 3 tech analysis took a look under the multiplayer bonnet last month.
