Blizzard appears to want to adapt Diablo III for PlayStation 3.

A vacancy for a "PlayStation 3 Specialist" on the Diablo III team appeared on Blizzard's job website.

"Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an enthusiastic senior software engineer to be a key contributor on the Diablo team," the job posting read. "This position is responsible for overseeing PlayStation 3 (PS3) architecture design as well as other PS3-specific game code development to maximise platform performance.

Responsibilities are to "design, implement, and maintain game systems to work on the Playstation 3".

In November 2011, Blizzard stressed that console chatter was for a "Diablo-related concept" and not necessarily a version of Diablo III.

Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said the team was "working hard to try and launch Diablo III this year", but the PC and Mac action RPG still has no official release date. An external beta test is scheduled for Q3 this year.

It's unlikely Blizzard will make waves at E3 this year, the company preferring instead its own BlizzCon conference in the autumn for headline announcements.
