Microsoft has added three new difficulty modes to role-playing game Blue Dragon.

The update is free to download, and aims to prolong the life of the game by giving you a bit more of a challenge.

Game Plus lets you start the story again using your saved characters from the end of a previous campaign, Hard Game allows you to play at a level twice as high as the original and Impossible Game is meant to tax those of level 50 or over.

It isn't clear how exactly things get more challenging, or if you will be awarded new accessories and spells to combat your enemies as you retread your way through the world.

Blue Dragon launched at the end of August for 360, and was billed as one of the games that would finally open Japan up to Microsoft's new console.

However, despite earning solid scores in Japan, the West didn't seem to think much of it. Pop over to our Blue Dragon review for a closer look.
