Boom Street, the interactive Monopoly-style board game for Wii, launches in Europe on 6th January, Nintendo has announced.

Boom Street is the Western name for the video game version of Japanese board game Itadaki Street. The aim of the game is to get rich quicker than your opponents through property acquisition and property investment. An in-game stock market lets you buy shares and earn dividends.

The boards are themed on Mario and Dragon Quest locations, including Starship Mario from Super Mario Galaxy and Alltrades Abbey from Dragon Quest. You can play as your Mii or pick from over 20 playable Mario and Dragon Quest characters, including Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Yoshi, Slime, Platypunk and Stella.

There's four-player local play on the same Wii Remote and online play over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
