Borderlands: The Handsome Collection currently free on the Epic Games Store
As is bizarre graffiti affair Sludge Life.
Welcome, freebie fans, to another instalment of Oh Look, More Free Games to Get on the Epic Store!, which, granted, isn't the snappiest of titles, but it gets the job done. And, this week, the aforementioned games temporarily discounted to zero pence in a grasp for your ongoing consumer loyalty are Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and Sludge Life.
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, as its name vaguely implies, bundles up a quivering duo of titles from Gearbox's comedic first-person loot-and-shooter series. And, as a result, you'll be able to add Borderlands 2 and all its DLC, plus Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, to your Epic library once you muster the mouse energy required to click the relevant button.
It's certainly not an offer to scoff at, with Borderlands 2 in particular nailing its mix of chaotically refined shooter action and winningly daffy presentation. The Pre-Sequel, however, while largely more of the same, didn't quite manage to make as much of an impact on release.
Your second free offering this week is Devolver Digital's Sludge Life, which Epic revealed it had snaffled up in its slobbering PC exclusivity maw back in March. This one's a sort of garish open-world vandalism nightmare, in which players attempt to stake their claim among the graffiti elite. It's brand-new too, so there's little in the way of critical consensus regarding its qualities just yet, but its free to download, so why not check it out?
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will remain free to download until next Thursday, 4th June, and Sludge Life will keep its discount status for a little while longer; it'll be free, according to the Epic Store, for precisely one whole year, starting today.
