Brilliantly spooky puzzle box series The Room is back with Old Sins, out now on iOS

Coming to Android devices soon.

Fireproof Games has released The Room: Old Sins, the long-awaited fourth entry in its wonderfully spooky series of first-person puzzle box games.

The Old Sins begins with your arrival at the mysterious Waldegrave Manor. This time around, you're on the hunt for a peculiar artefact following the sudden disappearance of an ambitious engineer and his high-society wife. "The trail", says Fireproof, "leads to the attic of their home, and the discovery of an old, peculiar dollhouse..."

This fourth outing looks to strike a happy balance between the purer, puzzle-box-focussed designs of The Room 1 and 2, and the more open-ended, exploratory structure of part 3. You'll still find yourself investigating multiple environments in Old Sins, but your in and out point is always through the haunted dollhouse that provides a focal point for the game.

Elsewhere, it seems to be business as usual for The Room. Expect a gorgeously atmospheric series of elaborate, satisfyingly cerebral puzzle boxes, in which you're tasked with pushing, pulling, and prodding your way to victory using the wonderfully tactile controls.

The Room: Old Sins is out now on iOS, and costs £4.99 / $4.99 USD. Fireproof Games says it will launch on Android devices shortly.
