Bulletstorm dev People Can Fly regains independence
Announces work has begun on an unannounced game.
Independent Polish Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly has returned.
It hasn't been anywhere, but has been under the ownership of Epic Games, for which it made Gears of War: Judgment. The studio became Epic Games Poland in 2013.
Ownership has now returned "to local leadership" from Epic Games.
People Can Fly will continue to contribute to Epic Games' upcoming Fortnite game, as well as use Unreal Engine 4 to create an entirely new unannounced game. According to the studio's website, the Bulletstorm IP belongs to People Can Fly.
Epic Games' Tim Sweeney said he had been "honoured" to work with the studio. People Can Fly's Sebastian Wojciechowski said he was "grateful" to Epic "for our long and successful collaboration".
However, People Can Fly is not the same studio it once was. Notably, it no longer has founder and creative director Andrian Chmielarz, who left along with two others to create new studio The Astronauts around the time Epic Games moved in. He's since found success with The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.
