Bungie sneaks custom marriage proposal into Destiny
"Will you take me for better or worse, in the Tower or on a patrol, for as long as we both have Light?"
Destiny, an online game played by millions, secretly has the workings for a custom made marriage proposal built into it.
Or at least this content was slyly added when game developer Adriel Wallick convinced the team at Bungie to arrange this most special of moments so she could propose to her boyfriend, who just so happens to be Nuclear Throne and Super Crate Box co-creator Rami Ismail.
Wallick's proposal emote stated, "Will you take me for better or worse, in the Tower or on a patrol, for as long as we both have Light?"
She then offered him the custom made Ring of Eternity, an item that's description reads: "For Guardians who have found their perfect match."
Wallick also included a letter, entitled A Letter from Adriel, which reads, "Rami, these last few years have been full of some of the greatest adventures in my life. We've done so many incredible things together, travelled to amazing places, and defeated countless enemies together in many made-up universes.
"When I think of everything I have left to accomplish in life, I can't think of anyone else I'd want to have by my side to share all of my future adventures with.
"Will you marry me?"
Naturally, he said yes.
"Thank you to the games industry, which throughout my life has given me joy, purpose, friendship, community, love - and now a fiancé" Ismail wrote on Twitter. "Thanks to all you sneaky lovely folks at @Bungie for helping @MsMinotaur with this one."
"That's like a custom emote, a custom item and two custom artifacts - how did @bungie even sneak this in without data miners finding it", he pondered.
Amazingly, Wallick and Ismail met over a video game, Fingle, upon playing it together when seated beside each other on a plane a few years back.
Congrats to the happy couple! May they save many made-up universes in all their future endeavors.
End scene.
