Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered gameplay shows new and improved Crew Expendable
And people still want to buy it separately.
Activision's released fresh gameplay of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered, showing off one of its most iconic missions.
The video, below, shows a playthrough of Crew Expendable, the second mission of Infinity Ward's groundbreaking first-person shooter. In it, the player infiltrates a cargo ship and retrieves a package.
I'm impressed by the graphical upgrade here, which was done by Raven Software. In a previous life, Call of Duty map pack maker Raven developed X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the 2009 Wolfenstein and the underrated Singularity.
By way of comparison, here's how Crew Expendable looked in the original Modern Warfare.
It's worth looking at how the new video, released on the official Call of Duty YouTube channel, has been received.
Trailers for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the next game in the series, have been mass down-voted by way of protest at Activision's publishing policy for Modern Warfare Remastered.
You can only get Modern Warfare Remastered if you pre-order the expensive Legacy Editions or Digital Deluxe Edition of Infinite Warfare - something that has upset a great many Call of Duty fans who are just interested in buying the remake on its own.
At the time of publication, the Crew Expendable video had 26,132 likes and 1035 dislikes, so the knives so far remain sheaved.
Still, the sentiment from earlier this year remains in the comments. Here's Koll1213's take:
"u won't get my money unless u sell cod4 remastered as a standalone game."
Quite.
