Capcom has confirmed to Eurogamer the original Street Fighter cast will be returning in the new game, suggesting we were a bit silly not to assume this from the get go.

Famitsu broke the news originally, hailing the return of Chun-Li, E-Honda, Guile, Dhalsim, Blanka and Zangief who, incidentally, looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

That's on top of Ryu and Ken and newcomer Crimson Viper, who producer Yoshinori Ono called "the cool beauty that the SF series lacks".

We should also look forward to the unveiling of a fresh face sometime soon, as promised on the Street Fighter IV blog.

An IGN translation of the Famitsu article also uncovered Saving Attacks that seem to hit back immediately after a block and catch your opponent with their pants down. This adds "critical spice" and an emphasis on offence, reckons Ono.

Those special counter things we've seen in screenshots were mentioned too, and apparently will be among the most super-flashy things in the game.

The European arm of the publisher plans to make its own announcement this Friday and promises assets and hugs.

Street Fighter IV will also be playable at an Arcade event in Japan on 15th February. Expect more information then.
