Capcom outlines difference between Dragon's Dogma and Skyrim

"We've really nailed the action."

There are two dragon-heavy open world fantasy role-playing games on the horizon: Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and Capcom's Dragon's Dogma.

While both games share many elements - and feature a healthy dose of dragon - there is, according to Capcom, one big difference, indeed one key area in which it feels the gargantuan Skyrim can't possibly compete: action.

"I'm very interested in Skyrim," producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi told Eurogamer. "Everyone on the team is. We're curious to see how that game's going to work when it comes out.

"If I may be a little proud of what we're doing with Dragon's Dogma, we've really nailed the action elements on this game. So no matter what other games have that might be similar to ours, I think Dragon's Dogma is going to surpass them in terms of action."

Dragon's Dogma's combat is reminiscent of Capcom's hugely popular Monster Hunter series, spliced with the hack and slash feel of Devil May Cry.

You, along with your pawns, smash huge monsters in the face. You're able to climb on them, attack from a distance, target weak points and dish out commands to your party members. Check it out in the video below.

Skyrim gets to go first: it launches on 11th November. Dragon's Dogma doesn't release until next year.
