Casual Kongregation wants you
Rate and play hundreds of games.
Casual gaming hub Kongregate has opened its doors, inviting you to both upload and play creations from around the world.
The service has been designed to get developers and their audience together under one roof, exposing smaller independent projects to the masses. If your game finds wide appeal then you could be rewarded with sponsorship and advertising revenue from Kongregate itself. And despite the service being still in beta, there's some nifty bits and pieces here.
Community is a big feature of the site, and will give you points to reward your participation; tipping you for referring friends or rating a games, as well as dishing out larger earnings if you contribute your creation to the service.
These points are displayed in a classic leaderboard way, but you'll also be able to use them to invest in games using an upcoming stock market-style system. However, abuse it by rating stuff you haven't really played and you could have them revoked.
The games are obviously the main draw of the site, and there are currently more than 300 to test out. The best of the bunch so far is The Fancy Pants Adventures, which also happens to be the first title to sport a Kongregation Challenge.
Find the hidden trophies in the game and you could earn 25 points, as well as a Rumiko card for Kongregation's upcoming card-battling game in spring: "Think card-based, tag-team, rock-paper-scissors Street Fighter with +10 awesomeness," says the website.
You'll have to hurry though, this challenge ends in two days.
