Console version of Hironobu Sakaguchi's Terra Battle in the works
After mobile version hits 2m downloads.
A console version of Terra Battle, the next game from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, is in development.
The free-to-play tactical role-playing game launched in October last year and has now been downloaded two million times, sparking development of a console version.
Terra Battle is developed by Lost Odyssey maker Mistwalker and scored by famed composer Nobuo Uematsu (check out the video below for a cool look into the recording process).
"We want to begin developing the console version of Terra Battle while still operating the mobile version that our fans will continue to love," reads a note on the Terra Battle website.
"We may have a long way to go in terms of negotiations and such, but no matter what shape or form the outcome takes, we will strive to bring this dream-inspiring project to life."
Terra Battle has an interesting business model that revolves around what Mistwalker calls "The Download Starter". The more the game was downloaded, the more content the developer added. For example, 100,000 downloads scored new songs by Uematsu. 200,000 got new characters by Final Fantasy 12 art director and Final Fantasy 9 character designer Hideo Minaba.
