Dark Souls 3: Ringed City - Shared Grave and Halflight, Spear of the Church boss fight

Our complete walkthrough and boss strategies to Dark Souls 3's final DLC.

The Shared Grave follows on from the Ringed City Streets area of the Ringed City DLC, with plenty of challenges, including another dragon and the Halflight, Spear of the Church, lying ahead. If you need help with other parts of the DLC meanwhile, then take a look at our Dark Souls 3: Ringed City guide and walkthrough hub for plenty more.

The Shared Grave

It's a good job that bonfire is right there, as you're about to fight a dragon. First order of business is to run for the wall in front and to the left. Stand there until he peeks over, then run out and straight to its clawed right hand.

Attack its hand as much as possible, dodging and swipes and running to its outside elbow when it breathes fire. If it repositions, be careful not to get careless and send yourself falling into the abyss with a wild swing. When its health is low, it will go into a frenzy, swinging and spitting fire everywhere.

Keep close to its body and keep your shield up, you should weather it. It may flop down exhausted afterwards, giving you chance to get in some free hits. It'll be dead before you know it. You can head down and mop up that area where it was first breathing fire now if you want, but there's nothing amazing there anyway.

Head up the stairs, following the salamander up to a room with a statue. One door leads outside, and another leads to an elevator. Take the elevator and you'll end up back at the Ringed Inner Wall fireplace via that locked door we passed earlier.

Warm your hands, then head back down, but jump through an archway that appears halfway down. Through one of these rooms you can drop through a hole in the floor, which comes out on the statue below, so you can grab the item it's holding. It's the Cloranthy Ring +3.

Head out into the light, towards the waiting enemy.

This guy is tough, but well-timed dodging will see you positioned for backstabs. He's surprisingly quick considering his massive Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords, but at least you get to keep them as a reward when you finally put him on his arse. From there, enter the chapel for a boss fight.

Halflight, Spear of the Church boss fight

At the beginning of this fight, make a beeline for the big guy and take him out as quickly as possible - just get in close and hammer away. Next you want to deal with the other ordinary healer enemy first, keeping the pillars between you and Halflight. Getting him on his own makes the fight a bit easier. You can take the healer out before Halflight even appears, if you're quick.

Stay circling a pillar for the entire fight, as you can block any projectiles fired at you this way.

You can also keep him in range while staying safe, if you maneuver carefully. Be wary of blocking too much, as his flurries will stagger you in seconds, unless you're a tank. Rolling away works best for more nippy builds. Just go two-handed and don't be shy about attacking.

Once you get him down to around half health another healer will appear. Again, it's best to take this enemy out quick, since it can quickly top up Halflight's health. The best way to beat Halflight is to be aggressive. Don't look for counter opportunities, try to be first instead. You can often land three or four hits in succession. Just circle him when he summons electric spears, roll out of the way of his homing orbs, and try keep within striking range.

When he's down, head to the bonfire. After that it's on to the final few stages of the Ringed City DLC: the Slave Knight Gael, Church of Filianore, and Shira, Knight of Filianore boss fights.
