DeNA aims to make $25m a month with Nintendo games
That's what its current biggest hit rakes in.
DeNA, the Japanese mobile games publisher that recently merged with Nintendo, is hoping its latest partnership will rake in $25m a month.
This is a lofty, but not unrealistic goal, as DeNA chief executive Isao Moriyasu told Reuters that its most popular title, Kaito Royale, brought in ¥3b, which comes out to about $25m. "We want to surpass that," he said.
"We want to create games that will be played by hundreds of millions of people," he stated. "We want to create multiple hit games rather than aiming to succeed with just one powerful IP element."
Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has previously confirmed that its mobile games will be built from the ground up for mobile devices rather than simply be ports of already existing games. The aim is to increase brand awareness and bring mobile gamers to 3DS and Wii U rather than replace the current hardware.
"We are challenging ourselves to redefine what Nintendo platform means," Iwata said at the announcement of Nintendo's latest partnership. "We hope to have output ready to show later this year."
