Destiny 2 Oryx boss strategy, how to deal with Aura of Immortality and survive Shadow of Oryx
Our complete guide to killing Oryx in Destiny 2s King's Fall raid, from managing the Aura of Immortality, to surviving the shadow phase of the fight.
Oryx is the final boss of the King's Fall Raidin Destiny 2, taking place in the same arena as Daughters of Oryx.
This final fight may be simple on paper, but in practice - not so much. Good luck Guardians!

Oryx boss strategy
Assign the same roles as the Daughters of Oryx; four players assigned to plates, and two floaters.
Clear adds until Oryx slams his fist down on one of the plates, this is the first plate that must be activated. One guardian will randomly be Torn Between Dimensions. This player is the Runner, and he should join the Guardian holding this plate.
The Runner will need to look above the other plates to locate the orb of light. Call out which plate it is, and the assigned Guardian will stand on it, forming the floating platforms. The Runner will collect it, and everyone will immediately jump off of their plates. Then, the process repeats twice more, and the Runner will collect the Brand Claimer.
After the second orb of light is collected a special knight called the Vessel of Oryx will appear. It has the Aura of Immortality, which must be stolen by the Runner with the Brand Stealer.
During the time that players are collecting the orbs of light, Ogres will spawn near each plate. Kill them, and they will each drop a bomb. They appear one at a time, and die quickly to coordinated team fire.
Light Eater Knights will spawn on each corner of the map, and run to the opposite side in order to consume the bombs. Kill them before they reach their targets.
The Season of the Deep is here alongside the Into the Depths quest. You can know go fishing too! Don't forget to keep an eye on the Lost Sector and King's Fall challenge rotation schedule!
How to damage Oryx
Once the Aura is stolen and all of the Knights are dead, gather in the center of the arena. Oryx will fly towards one of the plates, and slam his fist. As soon as his fist makes contact, everyone must step into the bomb near their assigned plate, and stand there until text toward the bottom left of the screen reads, '(Guardian Name) has detonated a Corrupted Light'.
As soon as a guardian reads their name, they will return to the middle and take shelter in the Aura of Immortality. The bombs will all detonate on Oryx, and any players not in the Aura will be killed. Oryx will be stunned, and his chest will open to reveal a large crit spot for DPS. Hit him with everything you’ve got. Once his chest shuts, the phase is over.
Now Oryx will do one of two things. If he starts launching bombs at players then everyone must start running to stay out of the explosions. People with assigned plates should run circles around their plates, while the two floaters run in the middle or the ends of the arena. Once the bombs stops, the orb gathering phase begins again.
Alternatively, Oryx may summon a blight at the front of the area, and start teleporting players one at a time into it. Inside is a Shade of Oryx. You must kill the Shade before too much time has elapsed, or the party is wiped. Once the Shade is dead everyone is returned to the Oryx fight, and the cycle starts anew.
How to survive Oryx's last stand
Continue repeating this process until Oryx reaches the last segment of his health bar. This will put him into the last stand phase. Nominate one player to be the bomber, everyone else will be DPS. Oryx will fly to the front of the arena, and an Ogre will spawn near R1. Kill it, and an Ogre will spawn next to L1. As soon as this ogre dies, the bomber will detonate the bomb at R1, stunning Oryx to prevent him from Summoning the Darkness and wiping the party, and opening him up for damage.
Everyone will now start doing as much DPS to Oryx as they can. Eventually he will attempt to Summon the Darkness again. The Bomber will prevent this by launching the L1 bomb. Focus on taking his health to zero, and the fight is won.
Now enjoy the spectacle of the Taken King being ejected into the void of space. Fingers crossed you unlocked a Touch of Malice - which has a chance of dropping on completing this final encounter.
Before you leave, remember you can interact with the final chest to purchase any items you've unlocked using Spoils of Conquest. This reflects what you have unlocked from the raid (hope you got a Doom of Chelchis!) so if you want to expand the 'inventory', run the raid again.
