In the meantime, read our Destiny 2 Forsaken guide and how to reach the new Destiny 2 level cap for an overview of what's new and changed. Destiny 2 exclusive content - details on Lake of Shadows, City Apex, Borealis, Retribution and more
PlayStation 4 Destiny 2 players will receive several exclusive items in game, which come in the form of an exclusive strike, map, exotic weapon, ship skin, and armour set for each of the three Destiny 2 classes. Here's a quick trailer showing them off, with details below:
Lake of Shadows strike - a three-player strike, called the Lake of Shadows. We don't no much yet, other than that it's set on Earth's European Dead Zone, and will go live from launch, like the all-platform Nightfall strike. It's described on the PlayStation blog as "a co-op Strike set atop and within a broken dam in the European Dead Zone," that has you "stem the tide of Taken flowing into the European Dead Zone from beneath the waves."
How to unlock: This will be part of the Strike playlist alongside other Strikes.
Retribution PvP map - a 4v4 mutliplayer map for the Destiny 2 Crucible, set on the upper atmosphere of Mars.
How to unlock: This will be part of the Crucible playlist alongside other Crucible maps.
City Apex ship - a blue and white coloured ship, to keep you nice and on-brand.
How to unlock: Unknown - likely a random drop alongside other ships.
Terra Concord armour - special armour for the Titan class. Described as "Armor formed from the wreckage of Golden Age orbital city Caer Lerion, which plummeted to Earth centuries ago in the Collapse."
How to unlock: Unknown - likely a random drop alongside other armour.
Tesseract Trace IV - special armour for the Warlock class. Described as "The Traveler's arrival rewrote every single theory we used to hold about the Universe and its ways."
How to unlock: Unknown - likely a random drop alongside other armour.
Icarus Drifter - special armour for the Hunter class. Described as "The Icarus Drifters are a group of elite Hunter spacepilots famous for "surfing" on solar flares."
How to unlock: Unknown - likely a random drop alongside other armour.
Borealis exotic weapon - one of many Destiny 2 exotic weapons, the Borealis is a sniper rifle and can, interestingly, swap between all three types of damage (Solar, Void, and Arc) so as to keep you effective in just about any scenario. Not bad!
How to unlock: Unknown - likely a random drop alongside other Exotic Weapons.
The Season of the Deep is here alongside the Into the Depths quest. You can know go fishing too! Don't forget to keep an eye on the Lost Sector and King's Fall challenge rotation schedule!
Destiny 2 PlayStation exclusive content expiry date - when does PS4 Destiny 2 content come to other platforms?
There's no definitive answer to the question of exactly when the PlayStation excusive Destiny 2 content will come to other platforms like Xbox One and PC, but there are some very strong hints we can go on.
For starters, Destiny 2 director Luke Smith tweeted the following:
So we know it's coming some time in 2018, and likewise there's the following small print on the PlayStation marketing material like the above trailer, which says this:
"Timed exclusive content until at least Fall 2018."
So we also know that 2018 date means late-ish in 2018, too. Still, at least Xbox and PC players will get the extra stuff at some point, just as it was with the first Destiny.
