Destiny's House of Wolves expansion has no new raid, Bungie confirms
But legendary weapons will be upgradable. Plus: New patch today.
Destiny's House of Wolves expansion will not contain a new six-player raid activity, Bungie has now confirmed.
A product listing on Bungie's official site suggested this last night, when the add-on's new cinematic trailer went live.
Now, in a new blog post, Bungie has given new information on the decision - and what else to expect from the expansion.
"House of Wolves will not have a Raid activity," community manager Urk explained. "We didn't make this decision lightly. Our team has been humbled by the reception of Raids in Destiny and we are creating a new Raid for a release later this year.
"House of Wolves will have a new cooperative end game activity focused on variety, replayability, and skill - a new battle Arena called The Prison of Elders."
But before we get information on that, Bungie will prioritise the release of information on how players can upgrade their existing exotic and legendary gear.
This news, at least, will be welcome to Destiny fans. Bungie was criticised for a confused upgrade path for exotic weapons with previous expansion The Dark Below, which also left existing legendaries un-upgradable altogether.
"Next week we'll be kicking things off by revealing the upgrade path for your existing Exotic and Legendary gear. We know this is an important subject for you," Urk continued.
"After, we'll detail out Trials of Osiris and Prison of Elders, both brand new additions to Destiny's end game activities."
Leaked details have pegged Trials of Osiris as a competitive multiplayer event which costs a valuable Strange Coin to enter. Its rewards will offer "end game gear".
Meanwhile, the first image of Prison of Elders published by Bungie last night appears to confirm that it will indeed be set within Destiny's mysterious Reef location.
Finally, a little closer to now, Bungie has confirmed that the long-awaited update 1.1.2 will be available to download later today. This will contain balance tweaks, expanded vault storage and a fix for the game's heavy ammo bug.
