A solid GPU for less.

GPU prices seem to be falling more as the days go by, and it's got to the point where most cards are at pretty reasonable prices. One such reasonably priced card is this AsRock Challenger RX 6600, which can be yours for £234.20 with code BONUS10 allowing you to nab 20 percent off its list price from the Box store on eBay.

The RX 6600 is generally more of a budget card, but still a solid one for most people at 1080p. In AAA titles such as Doom Eternal, it managed an average FPS of 197fps or so, which is certainly a respectable result. In more demanding titles such as Borderlands 3, when cranking things up to max settings, the 6600 mamnaged an average fps of 77.65, which, for reference, puts it on par with a RTX 2070 Super, and actually beats off an RTX 3060, making AMD's more affordable card a solid performenr at 1080p.

At 1440p too, the RX 6600 still offers more than playable frame rates, with a Borderlands 3 result of 51.4fps meaning you could definitely run the game at a higher resolution, althoigh with a bit of an FPS penalty. A 4K result of just over 40fps does leave a bit to be desired though, but then again, if you're going for exemplary performance at a 4K resolution, you will be paying an awful lot more than the lower asking price of the 6600.

This card is also a handy media solution, with support for both DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 outputs as well as AV1 decode. For a card this far below retail, that's amazing value. Turning to this AsRock card specifically, it's a decent looking one, with a mean looking dual fan shroud, all encased in black plastic. There isn't any unnecessary RGB here, unlike with higher end cards, which not only keeps costs down, but also offers a card that should look nice in virtually any PC.

Other GPUs from AMD and Nvidia that are a little further up the food chain are likely to provide a better overall experience, but for such a low price, this AsRock RX 6600 will be a solid performer at 1080p, and if that's all you need, then this should be a handy choice.
