DOWII beta prompts "major" patch
Relic hopes to be ready by launch.
Relic Entertainment has said that around 250,000 people played the recent Dawn of War II beta, and the "incredible amount" of feedback will be used to make a "major patch" for launch next week.
Full notes can be found on the Dawn of War II website, where the developer promises to both list and explain the thinking behind the on-going changes to the game.
"Moving forward, we will continue to explain some of the changes we're making to the game to a greater extent because we know many of you are very interested in how we arrived at the decisions we've made," explains Relic.
"Sometimes we just make mistakes, we're only human after all, but other times there are very good and well thought out reasons behind the changes.
"Our work to make Dawn of War II's experience as fair, fun and exciting as possible has just started," adds the post.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II will be released on PC next Friday. Considering Relic's pedigree in the RTS genre (Company of Heroes, Dawn of War), and what we've seen of the game so far, we can safely surmise that this will be something special.
Incidentally, we'll be reviewing from code patched up to the same standard, and our conclusion will be with you early next week.
Until then, our Dawn of War II gamepage has all our impressions so far, plus bundles of videos and screenshots to look at.
