Draw Something to be turned into Channel 4 game show

Start the countdown.

Draw Something, Zynga's popular Pictionary clone that you probably deleted from your phone sometime last year, is to be turned into a new Channel 4 game show.

Retitled as Draw It, a full series has been commissioned by Channel 4, it confirmed today. The UK version will be produced by Victory Television with Sony Pictures Television handling international distribution.

Developer Zynga helped transform the app into a TV show, which will see two teams go head-to-head in three rounds of drawing challenges.

It's not the first we've heard of a TV outing for Draw Something. Zynga and Sony were known to be working on a US version last summer, although we've yet to hear any more about that.

The format appears to be similar, however. Each team will be made up of a contestant and a celebrity. Together, they must try and earn gold coins in exchange for real-world cash.

A final round will see the remaining competitor team up with both celebrities to identify at least five of their pictures correctly. If unsuccessful, the prize fund will roll over to the next show.

Confirmation of a UK series is good news for Zynga, which has had a bumpy few months. The former boss of its Draw Something studio recently quit the company, despite it being mid-development on Draw Something 2.
