EA has revealed that The Sims 3 will head to DS, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 this autumn.

Platforms were previously unconfirmed, although an autumn date has been mentioned on more than one occasion.

The Sims hasn't appeared like this on DS before. This adaptation recreates the core Sims experience and allows houses and Sims and "virtually everything" to be customised by swishing the stylus.

The Wii game, meanwhile, has a trendy new beach town bursting with new places to explore and faces to meet. There's a Life Moments game to play against a friend too, whatever that is.

The beefier PS3 and Xbox 360 versions gain new Karma Powers that instantly bestow Sims with special gifts, such as sexual allure. And there's a create and share element for you to exchange content online, plus Facebook integration of some kind.

The Sims 3 appeared on PC last summer, and renewed the IP with seamless neighbourhoods Sims could prowl around. "Broad and ridiculously charming," said Alec Meer of The Sims 3 while reviewing for Eurogamer.
