EA looking into Madden porn
After a 14 year-old sees some.
EA says that it's trying to work out how a teenager in Utah wound up exposed to a pornographic image when he turned on his Christmas copy of Madden.
The publisher told Next-gen.biz that it's sorry for any embarrassment or inconvenience the incident caused the family, but seems to have no idea how it happened.
Kolton Mahoney, 14, who lives with his parents in Utah, had been given the Xbox 360 version of the five-million-selling Madden NFL 07 by his uncle, who bought it from a Circuit City shop in California.
He described having porn flash up on the TV screen instead of the game, after which he went off and told his parents, who were stunned.
They're not looking for a bit fat pay-off though, according to reports; they just want to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Good news, then, that the excellently named Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is on the case, with similarly brilliantly named Lt. Rhett McQuiston telling reporters, "the hard part will be finding out who did it".
"We'll give it a shot. I would go through the roof if this happened to my kid," he (she?) added.
EA also stressed that it has had no similar complaints about Madden, although whether that's just because people aren't reporting them isn't addressed.
