Early Access coming to Windows 10 via Xbox Game Preview programme
Thank god there are no competitors on PC.
Move over Steam Early Access and GOG Games in Development and the ilk, because here comes Microsoft with the Xbox Game Preview programme for Windows 10.
The programme that launched on Xbox One last summer will expand to Windows 10 later this year. As you can imagine it lets you buy games that aren't finished and play a role in their development.
The first game on the Windows 10 Game Preview programme - or whatever it ends up being called - will be Everspace by Rockfish Games, a single-player spaceship combat game with Roguelike elements. It was Kickstarted to the tune of €420,252 last September.
The Xbox Game Preview programme launched last summer and has included games such as Elite: Dangerous, The Long Dark and We Happy Few.
The announcement comes out of big German games show Gamescom, which is happening now! Microsoft also just revealed very attractively priced Xbox One S bundles: a £250 500GB model and a £300 1TB model. Both come bundled with FIFA 17 and a month of EA Access.
We have a Gamescom guide that should tell you anything you need to know about this week's event and who's there showing what.
