Editor's blog: Develop Conference
Game devs sounding off all week.
Despite our best efforts, we've not yet convinced the ESA to relocate E3 to the Brighton seafront, nor Valve to relocate Left 4 Dead 2 to my hard drive - but we do have the annual Develop Conference at the Hilton Metropole in Brighton, and it kicks off today.
As you'd expect, we'll be heading down to check out some of the more interesting sessions and interview the speakers, including the likes of David Perry from Acclaim/Gaikai, Charles Cecil from Revolution, Dave Jones from Realtime Worlds and Jonathan Smith from Traveller's Tales.
In fact, if you check out the site tomorrow morning at 9.30am BST, you'll find us live-texting Dave Jones' keynote, "Online functionality for your next game? Why not go 100% online", to give you a flavour of the conference.
We'll also be reporting in traditional fashion on other selected sessions, starting today with the mobile and digital download-focused "Evolve" event, and continuing throughout Wednesday and Thursday as Develop itself rumbles into life.
Personally, I'm particularly looking forward to Bizarre Creations' session on "Evolving the Racing Franchise", and the "PlayStation 3: Cutting Edge Techniques" coding keynote on Thursday from Sony's Kish Hirani and Colin Hughes. So look out for reports and interviews for the next few days!
Oh, and if you're coming down to Develop and manage to identify us, be sure to say hello! We're very sorry. Whatever it is we did.
