Elon Musk says Cuphead is coming to Teslas
Pot-holes.
Although I don't know from personal experience, I imagine Teslas must have pretty fancy cupholders. Now they'll also have Cuphead, as Elon Musk has taken a break from drilling tunnels under LA to announce the game will be playable in several Tesla models.
During episode 200 of the weekly Tesla podcast "Ride the Lightning", Musk said Cuphead is on its way to Tesla's Model 3, Model S and Model X versions (via IGN). Apparently the developers have already got the game up and running on a Tesla - albeit only Inkwell Isle One - and Musk described it as "sadistically difficult".
"It's a cool game. It's insanely difficult. It's a twisted plot. It's dark. It looks like some cute little Disney thing and you're like, 'this plot is very dark'," Musk said on the podcast. If driving a Tesla didn't already give you road rage, Cuphead surely will.
For its own part, Cuphead developer Studio MDHR seems pretty excited about the project, with producer Maja Moldenhauer telling IGN that they want "super, super clean" gameplay and a good framerate.
Musk seems eager to convert Teslas into very expensive gaming machines, and this isn't the first we've heard of the idea. Back in August 2018 he called for developers to submit game pitches and brought several Atari games to Tesla, while he recently tweeted to say the company is working on porting Unity (which is what Cuphead runs on). If you're wondering how all these work, Teslas have a central touch screen on which to play games - although Cuphead will require a USB controller to play.
Musk has also been looking to install games that "integrate the touch screen, phone and car IRL", such as using the steering wheel to control the game. Hopefully he never ports The Simpsons: Hit & Run.
The only hitch in adding video games to Teslas so far, according to Musk, is that Teslas have very limited storage. "We didn't anticipate having all these games there, so storage space will be a tricky one," he said on the podcast. "So you might have to decide what game you want to play, then it will download. If you want to play other games, delete that one and download another one." It's for this reason that only Inkwell Isle One will be playable in the cars.
On an unrelated note, I've heard Cuphead on Switch - a portable device - is very good.
