Basculin locations in Pokémon Legends: Arceus explained
Basculin can be caught in three biomes in Pokémon Legends: Arceus - the Cobalt Coastlands, Coronet Highlands and Alabaster Icelands.
In the Cobalt Coastlands, Basculin can be caught in the waters of Tranquility Cove and Islespy Shore. Meanwhile, in the Coronet Highlands, Basculin can be found in the Fabled Spring.
Finally, Baculin can be caught at Lake Acuity and Heart's Crag in the Alabaster Icelands. If you have access to this biome, we recommend catching a Basculin from here, because their high levels means they will know one of the moves required for its evolution.
How to evolve Basculin into Basculegion in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
To evolve Basculin into Basculegion in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, your chosen Basculin must receive 294 damage in recoil from its attacks without fainting.
This recoil damage doesn't have to be earned in a single battle, instead you can spread this process out across multiple fights to avoid having Basculin faint. It is important, however, to heal Basculin after every fight, because the amount of HP loss this evolution method requires can easily knock your Pokémon out.
When it comes to moves with recoil, your best choices are between Wave Crash, which Basculin learns at Level 34, or Double Edge, which becomes available from Level 43. Remember - if Basculin can learn either of these moves, but they're not currently in its moveset, you can use the 'Change move' function to swap them back in.
When working towards this evolution, we recommend targeting Pokémon Basculin, as a water-type, has an advantage over - fire, ground and rock-types. Doing so will help ensure the battle ends quickly and in your favour thanks to Wave Crash being, unsurprisingly, a water-type move.
If your Basculin has a high level, we recommend finding your prey in either the Coronet Highlands or Crimson Mirelands. Both of these locations contain a selection of rock and ground-type Pokémon, especially the Coronet Highlands where you'll find both Gravelers and Sudowoodos.
Once Basculin has received 294 or more recoil damage, the ability to evolve it will be unlocked and you can do so whenever you like!
