Ex-Irrational and Harmonix devs' action RPG/RTS Dreadline takes to Kickstarter
Play as a team of monsters killing people before history's greatest disasters do.
Dreadline, an action RPG/RTS hybrid about a team of monsters going back in time to slaughter people before they would die anyway from natural disasters, has arrived on Kickstarter via new Boston-based studio Eerie Canal.
Though this is Eerie Canal's first game, the studio was founded by industry vets Bryn Bennett and Steve Kimura who have worked on such titles as BioShock, System Shock 2, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and Freedom Force: The Third Reich among numerous other titles.
The story revolves around an 8-year old boy who wears a sheet over his head and thinks he's a ghost. It's hard to blame him when his best friends are all monsters, so together the crew decides to take the more ethical approach to mass murder and slaughter those who are about to meet their maker anyway on say, the Titanic. It sounds a bit like a violent, sadistic Where the Wild Things Are.
In its first day Eerie Canal has raised $5,734 of its $167,000 goal with 27 days to go before its 31st January deadline.
Backers who donate $10 will receive a digital copy of Dreadline upon its PC release in October. Those who pledge $25 will receive a special edition with a digital artbook and soundtrack, and a whopping $2,000 will guarantee your place in the game and a credit as a cast member. Incredibly, someone has already sprung for this.
