Fallout 76 unintentionally teleports player into restricted vault

Con-fusion.

Another day, another Fallout 76 secret area breach: but this time the player involved didn't even intend to break in.

Fallout 76 currently has a number of sealed vaults which aren't supposed to be accessible until Bethesda introduces them in a future patch. They don't appear to be completely airtight, however, as one player was transported into a secret vault during one of Fallout 76's events.

As reported by PC Gamer, Reddit user McStaken claims they were teleported into Vault 63 when participating in the Rad-Rat Horde event. Along with posting a number of images as evidence, McStaken asked Bethesda to "send a vault-tec rescue party" to help them escape. Thankfully McStaken has since been able to free themselves from the vault - putting them ahead of most vault dwellers in the Fallout universe - but expressed fears Bethesda would slap them with a ban.

The player claimed it wasn't their vault, and it was an honest McStaken.

The reason McStaken was so worried can be explained by Bethesda's recent action against those hacking into the Fallout 76 dev room. After several players used illicit means to enter the dev room, Bethesda introduced automatic bans for characters that "visited an area within the game which isn't typically accessible via normal gameplay".

As McStaken didn't purposefully hack into the vault and submitted a support ticket, it was always unlikely they'd be subject to the same punishment as the naughty players using third-party software to break into the dev room. A Bethesda community manager has since replied to McStaken's Reddit post to reassure the fretting player they're not in trouble.

"Glad to hear you got in and out of the Vault in one piece. These Vaults are still under construction, but we look forward to sharing more on how they will become part of the game.

"In the meantime, we also appreciate when players like yourself let us know about stuff like this. We have shared with the team and will let you know if we have any follow up questions. Thank you!"

It's worth noting this isn't the first time players have managed to access Fallout 76's secret vaults. Two months ago one player managed to break into all three of the sealed vaults (numbers 63, 94 and 96) by using a power armour wall breach glitch. They uploaded several walking tours of the vaults to YouTube, along with an image of a terminal calling the player an asshole. Possibly aimed at those who glitched into the vault early?

Ah yes, the message I left to my uni group project members.

For the rest of us, meanwhile, Vault 63 remains locked away thanks to a key card terminal. Judging by the nuclear reactor, radioactive mass and skeletons inside, I'm not in any rush to get in.
