FIFA World Cup game reckons Germany will win the World Cup
And how did England do?
Who will win the World Cup? Brazil? They're on home soil, after all. Spain? They've got Iniesta, Xavi and all the rest. Argentina? They have Messi, perhaps the greatest footballer ever.
EA Sports' FIFA World Cup game reckons it'll be Germany.
Yesterday EA Sports ran a simulation of the World Cup, testing the 32 teams under the same conditions they will face in Brazil from next week, and at the end of it all Germany lifted the trophy as world champions.
Germany beat Brazil 2-1 after extra time at the Estádio do Maracanã on 13th July. Here's EA Sports' description of the final:
"In the EA SPORTS simulation, the Final itself was an epic battle as Brazil squared off against Germany in a repeat of the 2002 World Cup Finals. The Brazilian 'samba boys' got off to an impressive start, overwhelming Germany with their skill, speed and free-flowing football. The early pressure paid off as Neymar found space behind the German backline and beat Manuel Neuer one-on-one, making him the tournament's top scorer in the process (6 goals). As the game continued, the resilient Germans settled down and began to find their rhythm. Late in the match, Per Mertesacker would equalize for Germany with a towering header from a well-delivered Mesut Özil corner. Brazilian dreams of a fairytale finish were crushed in extra-time when substitute Miroslav Klose reacted first to a loose ball and scored from close range, writing himself into the history books as the FIFA World Cup's all-time top scorer (16 goals). With the win, Germany claimed their fourth World Cup."
Why should we care?
Four years ago EA Sports accurately predicted Spain would be world champions. So, you see, a German victory this time around is inevitable.
Other stats from the simulation: Brazil whiz Neymar won the Golden Boot with six goals, and Spain midfielder Iniesta scored the best goal in a match against England.
Ah, England. So how did our boys do in the simulation? We got knocked out at the quarter finals stage 2-0 by Spain. Well, at least we got out of the group.
