Dreadnought Leviathan

Dreadnought Leviathan

Vossler will join you as a guest now and he'll be with you for a while, and you'll also be given a map of the airship which will help with navigation. As you make your way through keep an eye out for laser grids as setting one off will cause enemies to come running to your location. When you reach Large Freight Stores the path splits - taking the upper floor is a longer route but has fewer enemies, whereas the lower route is shorter but will force you to trigger an alarm.

Whichever route you take, you will eventually wind up in the Central Block and be forced to face off against three swordsmen, a magus, and two judges. Defeating both judges will end the fight regardless of who else is left, but it's worth taking out at least a couple of the other enemies to even the odds, and if you have Blind available use it on the Judges to keep them distracted while you thin the herd.

After the fight you'll acquire the brig key. Once inside open door C-201 to reveal a save crystal and a system access key, C-202 to reveal a merchant (how do they end up in such weird places with stock intact?), and C-203 will rescue Ashe.

Once she's in tow save the game again, and then prepare to run. As you head into the next area the alarm will sound and every guard in the place will come looking for you. You can engage them if you wish, and a couple of security stations will be marked on your map that will silence the alarm for 60 seconds, but holding R2 and taking the short route back without stopping for breath is the safest bet.

As you near the exit a short cutscene will play, Vossler will leave the party, and Penelo will join as a permanent member - the party is now complete! The guards also stop chasing you, so now is a good time to heal any wounds as there's a boss fight imminent.

Judge Ghis boss fight

The Judge will be accompanied by three swordsmen, so we'd recommend Blinding the Judge if you can to give you breathing room to deal with the lesser enemies first. The Judge himself will rely on a mixture of heavy melee attacks and occasional Aero spells, and when his health hits around 30% he'll cast Great Barrier on himself which gives him both Shell and Protect. Thankfully, though, once he gets down to around 20% the fight is over.

Once you're back in town return to the Marquis, and you'll find yourself on your way across the Dalmasca Westersand.

Stock up on items (handkerchiefs in particular are handy) then use the orange save crystal before heading out into the desert. You can also pop back to Cloudbourn to pick up a new Mark to complete along the way, although it may be a little beyond your abilities at present.

Ogir-Yensa Sandsea and Nam-Yensa Sandsea

Ogir-Yensa Sandsea - East Tanks, Platform-1 Refinery.

This is another area littered with traps, so "Self > Libra" as a gambit on one of your party can save a lot of pain.

As you head into the area Vossler will show up again, and as always his tanking skills are handy. You'll be facing off against a lot of Uratans here, and while they pose no threat individually they can cast Haste on themselves and Slow on your party members and can be dangerous in packs of more than three so proceed with caution.

The quickest way to your main objective is through the exit directly west, but there's an optional side mission through the north west exit that makes an upcoming boss fight substantially easier so we'd recommend taking the long route.

Nam-Yensa Sandsea - The Sandscale Bank

This is optional, but strongly recommended - speak to the Moogle and listen to his story, then save the game. Exit the far side of the area into Uratan-Yensa Sea, deal with the Uratans along the way, and exit to Withering Shores. When you reach the centre you'll encounter Uratan Eater merrily attacking a few Uratan. While he's attacking them he'll ignore you so start laying waste to him while he's distracted. The Uratan decoys won't last forever, but a spot of Blind once he's focusing on you should keep him under control.

Once he's dead return to the Moogle, then follow the Uratan back to Ogir-Yensa. As you ascend the ramp the Uratan will run past you, so retrace your steps again to Sandscale Bank and watch the drama unfold. Speak to the Moogle again and then pick the berries from the rogue flower, and guard them with your life!

Now proceed west through Nam Yensa. When you reach the Trail of Fading Warmth you'll run across a merchant so stock up on supplies here. To the north is the location of the Wyvern Lord - tackling him while Vossler is in your party can help thanks to his Telekinesis ability, but on the other hand you may be a little underpowered - and your story destination lies to the west. Going through the exit will prompt you to save, and we strongly suggest you do so. It'll heal your party like a save crystal, and you're about to encounter a boss fight so a save is always a good thing.

When you're all set, next up is part 5 of our Final Fantasy 12 The Zodiac Age walkthrough: Tomb of Raithwall and Garuda, Belias, and Vossler boss fights.
