How to complete the penultimate Trial in the DLC episode.

Know Thine Enemy is the third Trial in the Final Fantasy 15 Episode Gladiolus DLC, following on from Path to Perdition and the Enkidu boss.

If you're after help for parts of the DLC, consult our Final Fantasy 15 Episode Gladiolus DLC guide and walkthrough.

While each page will discuss them, we also have a page of item locations for the Picker-Upper Trophy / Achievement, too.

Know Thine Enemy

After you redeem the second soul, clear the following room of enemies, then head down the steps at the end of the room. Get the Potion from the stacked pile of stones around halfway down.

At the bottom is a room with another wave of Souls enemies. There's three columns here you can use to help lay waste to the group, which will then open up the wall to allow you to proceed. Don't forget to collect the Hi-Potion next to the bottom of the steps you came down, and to uproot the columns before you continue.

Go through the wall to a cliffside ledge with a wooden bridge ahead, getting the Potion on the left before you head along. There's a Phoenix Down on the right behind some barrels just before the path slopes down to an area below, and another item (a Hi-Potion) on the right just before you reach the bottom.

Finally, grab the Potion by the barrels after you step off the path, and before you face the group of enemies, including a Bandersnatch.

First, use the two columns here to take on all the smaller enemies, including some Bulettes, to clear the field a little. The Bandersnatch itself is surprisingly mobile, but we'd recommend trying to run round the back to avoid attacks and to get some Link Strikes going with Cor. The beast can shift to the sides and catch you, so if it looks like it's about to move, raise your shield.

After the battle, there is a staircase going up the left, but make sure you get the Potion by going right instead over the rocks.

Climb up the top, and on this cliff edge is a couple of columns and some Bulettes to whack them around with. There's a third column deeper inside the rock face, as well as two Potions - one on the outer edge and one underneath the wooden walkway going up.

At the top is the third campground. Save and listen to the conversation over the fire, and before you head up the steps, jump on the rocks over to the right for a Hi-Potion. Go up the steps and before you walk onward and initiate the fight, grab the Potion on the left after the archway.

There is a column in this enemy-filled room to help make light work of the foes, then press on through the tight crawl space to face an Inannaduru that emerges from the wall.

Inannaduru fight

This battle is similar to other enemy-filled encounters with a larger foe - concentrate on the smaller monsters first to clear the battlefield, then focus on the big guy. He can spit out a poison attack that you can avoid from a middle stance (but can be blocked) and if you can, watch for when he's about to extend his arm, which you should be able to parry. THere's a column you can use here, too.

Once it's done, the wall will fall and you'll roll onto another skirmish with more enemies. Again, there's a column here you can use, as well as two items to collect - a Hi-Potion and Potion - against the south and west edges of the room.

When you're ready, activate the third and penulitmate trial. Head down the steps, and before you hit the waypoint, time for three items. There is one opposite on the stairs as you come down (a Pheonix Down) and then on the left and right sides of this room (a Potion and Hi-Potion).

When you hit the waypoint, you'll trigger an encounter with an Humbaba.

There's also plenty of interesting side-quests, too, such as the Scraps of Mystery and Professors Protege frog locations. And if you want to get around easier, you can rent a Chocobo, learn the infinite sprint trick and later in the game, get the flying car Regalia Type F. There's also more to see and do with DLC, such as Episode Gladiolus and Episode Prompto.

Flames of the Smelter - defeat the Humbaba boss

This battle is a little more straightforward than previous encounters, due to Humbaba's slower speed. Essentially, lock on and block, and when he's not moving (thus, about to attack) get in a few hits.

The only attack to really look out for is a punch down to the ground, which can knock you out in a single hit, so try and block and move out the way when you see that coming.

He has strong defence, but take the time to chip away with regular attacks and its health will go down sooner than you think, especially as you'll be building up your Glaive Arts which can stun him and leave him open to move attacks. There is a column on the far side you can use to take off a chunk of health as well.

Once that is done, redeem the shield to get the ability to harm Gilgamesh - which is our fourth and final trial, To Serve as Shield and how to beat the Blademaster boss, and the end of the episode.
