Final Fantasy XIV showing at gamescom
Plus: playable Supreme Commander 2.
Square Enix Europe - the new mother company of Square Enix and Eidos - has said that Final Fantasy XIV will be "one of the main attractions at gamescom 2009".
Although there are no details on what we'll get to see of the game at next month's event in Cologne, which runs from 19th to 23rd August, the news that it's ready to be shown in some form is great to hear so soon after its E3 reveal.
Square Enix Europe lists FFXIV for PS3 and PC with a release date of 2010, and points out that it's "planned for a simultaneous global release with language support in German, French, English and Japanese".
Speaking at E3, the company wouldn't rule out Xbox 360 support, despite Sony America boss Jack Tretton's insistence during his press conference that it would be a console exclusive.
Elsewhere in Square Enix Europe's gamescom line-up we have Batman: Arkham Asylum, from which attendees will be able to experience FreeFlow Combat and Invisible Predator Challenge Maps, along with one of the levels featuring The Joker, ahead of the game's 28th August release.
The rest of the line-up is made up of Final Fantasy XIII (remember that?), Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, Front Mission Evolved, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Mini Ninjas, Nier, Order of War, Pony Friends 2 and the playable premiere of Supreme Commander 2.
