First Total War: Rome 2 patch out this Friday

UPDATE: out now. Only 2% of players reporting technical problems, CA claims.

UPDATE: Rome 2's first patch has been released, Creative Assembly has announced.

Patch two comes out next week.

"We are working flat out to fix the two per cent of Rome 2 players reporting technical problems," Creative Assembly said.

"It is a minority of cases but it's a minority we remain very unhappy about and are doing all we can to get them in-game as fast as possible with the entire team working on a series of patches that will hit weekly for the immediate future."

Patch one adjusts performance for certain set-ups and will improve framerates and DX10 issues. The patch notes are on the Total War wiki.

Patch two, currently in internal testing, will be publicly available as a beta on Monday. It includes fixes for low poly models viewed close-up, performance settings on certain hardware combinations and siege battle path-finding, among other improvements.

ORIGINAL STORY: The first Total War: Rome 2 patch releases this Friday, 6th September 2013, Creative Assembly has announced.

The update aims to tackle hardware-related issues and address balancing and AI routines.

"At Creative Assembly we are very pleased with the response to Rome 2, with hundreds of thousands of players enjoying the game so far, but we do know that, as with all large PC releases, the variety of hardware and general system specifications can cause issues for some people and we are urgently working to help get them the right experience," read a statement.

"As announced last month, we are also planning to tweak the balancing, AI routines and other features now that we're getting real-time metric feedback from thousands of players.

"Full patch notes will be available on Friday, but the update will address known instances of crashes due to hardware conflicts alongside several other performance fixes."

Following the release of a patch this Friday, Creative Assembly intends to update Rome 2 on a weekly basis in the immediate future.

For now, Creative Assembly pointed those who are experiencing graphical issues, including low resolution textures, to its support forum, which contains suggestions for settings.
